Alice Borciani, soprano

Born in Reggio Emilia, Italy, Alice Borciani graduated in trumpet and in singing at the conservatory of Reggio Emilia. She specialized in Baroque vocal repertoire with Monica Piccinini and attended the Masterclass in Baroque Choir held by the Accademia Bizantina of Ravenna with Ottavio Dantone. In 2012 she graduated with distinction at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis under the guidance of Gerd Türk. She is currently studying with Carlos Mena and Roswitha Müller. In 2005 she won the International Music Competition “Premio Città di Padova”. In december 2010 she won the Third Prize in the International competition of Baroque singing “Francesco Provenzale” in Napoli organized by the Cappella Pietà dei Turchini.
In 2013, with the ensemble Cafebaum, she won the first prize at the Göttingen Händel-Festspiele competition for young ensembles of baroque music. She started the choral activity at very young age. Among her first performances as soloist it’s worth mentioning the role of Amore in Monteverdi’s “Il ballo delle Ingrate” in Guastalla (Italy) also recorded for ARION (Paris) in 1995.
She sang the role of the Angel in “La Resurrezione” by G.F.Händel under the guidance of Diego Fasolis. In 2010 she made her debut as Satirino in “La Calisto” at the Theater Basel (CH) under the direction of Andrea Marcon. In the same year she sang the title role in “Cappuccetto Rosso” by Carlo Boccadoro in Modena (Italy). In 2011 and 2012 she has been Barbarina in “Le nozze di Figaro” at the Schlosstheater in Potsdam (D) under the direction of Sergio Azzolini. In 2012 she sung in “The Fairy Queen” at the Theater Basel with La Cetra conducted by Andrea Marcon. Between the last performances concerts at Ravello festival, Fringe festival in Utrecht, Ambronay festival, concerts in Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland with different ensembles and conductors like Andrea Marcon, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Paolo Pandolfo, Jordi Savall, Diego Fasolis, Thomas Hengelbrock and Leonardo Garcia Alarcon.
She is a member of the Zürcher Singakademie, of the Vokalensemble La Cetra and of the Choeur de Chambre de Namur.
She is also interested in contemporary music and she has taken part in various operas, concerts and first performances of contemporary pieces.
