Susanna Defendi, sackbut

Susanna Defendi began her musical career in Bergamo, where she attended the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Gaetano Donizzetti”. She obrained her diploma in modern trombone in 2010 under the guidance of Ermes Giussani. She soon began collaborating with several italian orchestras such as Orchestra della Bassa Bergamasca, Orchestra del Teatro Donizetti, Orchestra della Filarmonia Veneta, Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Parma, Orchestra dell’Associazione Arteviva, Orchestra di Fiati Filarmonica Mousiké. From 2011 she began to approach the ancient trombone (Renaissance and Baroque), developing her interest in early music and attending master classes with the most important European instrumentalists. From 2011 she studied in Basel at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Charles Toet. 

She performes with ensembles such as Cantar Lontano (Mencoboni), Concerto Romano, Festina Lente, Ghislieri Choir & Consort, Camerata Bern, I Barocchisti (Fasolis), Capriccio Barockorchestrer Basel, Voces Suaves, Ensemble Opera Prima, taking part to many renown festivals such as Ambronay Festival, Festival Baroque de Pontoise, Festival MiTo, Europa Cantat, Resonanzen am Wiener Konzerthaus, Edimburgh International Festival.
